Wade whimsies
In the early 1950s George Wade Potteries began to manufacture a range of miniature animals.
Mr Wade's secretary said the animals looked "whimsical", and from this the name Wade Whimsies was formed.
Whimsies are collectable minature glazed ceramic animals
The first wade whimsies are known as First Whimsies
From the 1960s a new production was started - the base was rubed back and forth on a material similar to emery paper - this gave Wade their ribbed base.
Sir George Wade died in 1986, a year later his son Tony died, thereby ending 120 years of the Wade family name in ceramics
